Indications and Usage:
Treatment of Human immunodeficiency virus in combination with other drugs.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity, peripheral neuropathy, pancreatitis, liver disease, alcohol abuse, and renal failure.
Pregnancy:
Should be used only where there are compelling clinical indications.
Nursing mothers: mothers taking Didanosine should not breast-feed their infants.
Adverse reactions:
pancreatitis, lactic acidosis, severe hepatomegaly with steatosis, retinal changes and optic neuritis; and peripheral neuropathy;
Dosage and administration:
| Adults: | > 60 kg: 200 mg twice daily. |
| < 60 kg: 125 mg twice daily. |
Dosage adjustments are required in renal insufficiency.
Presentation:
Tablets available as chewable buffered tablets.
