Approximately 70 per cent of new HIV-infections occur in sub-Saharan Africa, the poorest region in the world. In Sub-Sahara Africa there are more than 25 million people infected with HIV. In Middle East and North Africa there are more than 0.6 million people living with HIV/AIDS. In Asia-pacific region the number of people infected with HIV is more than 8 million. The menace of HIV and AIDS is spreading at a very alarming rate.
